A B star poodle puppy

When we do breed a litter we aim to match the right owners with the right temperament of dog. This we feel is important so that both owners and dogs get the best out of their relationship. As much as we like to see our poodles working for a living, we draw immense pleasure from seeing them just being loved in pet homes. Our dogs are all members of our family so we know how much they can contribute to the home situation.

All our puppies are raised within the house so they get used to all the sights and sounds of a busy household. For those that are going into a training environment we get the pups used to being hand fed which develops a strong bond for humans. As we only advocate positive reinforcement training methods we also get them used to the sound of the clicker from a young age. We also get all the dogs used to us standing over or near them while they are feeding which gets them used to peoples feet and legs which can be quite daunting to a small pup.

Feeding of the pups we feel is very important from day one so as much as possible we feed them on raw/cooked homemade food. From the time that the start moving around we like to stimulate them with different toys and surfaces. The best thing we have ever encountered is a small round buji board (made for humans to strengthen the ankles). The puppies love it and they learn to balance on it which really helps to give them security for different obstacles later in life. They get the confidence for the sew/saw from early life on.

Each puppy is also separated from its litter mates from time to time especially when it is getting close to them going to their new homes. During this one to one time we encourage them to retrieve and praise them for anything they do, which has resulted in many puppies being able to do some amazing things by the time they are eight weeks old.

Be prepared to be asked questions about your home and its environment as we take our responsibilities as a breeder very seriously. We prefer not to ship puppies off alone so would prefer new owners to come and pick up their puppy in person. Sometimes we have older dogs which we are happy to let go to homes if you would prefer to have one which is past the puppy stage. As much as we would love to keep all the dogs we breed we can appreciate a good home when it comes along.

The puppies are all left with their natural undocked tail which is only marginally longer than some docked dogs. We register all the puppies with the AKC and when the puppies leave us they have all the essential details of their diet and requirements for the first few months and of course we are always on the end of the phone if you need some advice.
